Sadie Calvano (Mom) stars in this 2021 true-crime docudrama about 19-year-old Erin Corwin, who was married to a U.S. Marine corporal and expecting their first child when she abruptly vanished. Two months later, after an exhaustive search through Joshua Tree National Park, Erin’s body is found at the bottom of an abandoned mineshaft. As the close-knit military community closes ranks while wondering whether Erin was killed by one of their own, investigators discover the paternity of Erin’s unborn child was a matter of conjecture. In the two decades since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorism attacks on the United States, friends and families of the nearly 3,000 victims of that tragedy still are left with unanswered questions and a hunger for closure. In this two-hour special, Theresa Caputo tries to bring those still-bereaved survivors a sense of peace by meeting with them in the shadow of the World Trade Center, a site near the Pentagon and at the Flight 93 memorial in Pennsylvania to deliver messages of healing and heroism from the departed.
