CLARIFYING GUN BAN
Estancia Mayor Nathan Dial disables his gun before entering the state Capitol on Tuesday. Security personnel and state police officers gathered near the west entrance when Dial came in. Dial had a holster on his right hip containing a receiver, the part that holds all firing mechanisms of the firearm. Dial came to the Capitol to seek clarification on a rule that only allows law enforcement to carry firearms in the Capitol. Security let Dial in, and he visited with legislators and building supervisor Rafael Baca. Baca said Dial has been the first person to question the gun ban.
