Hunter Dickinson and Jayhawks get set to battle Cyclones

-

Another NCAA Big 12 matchup hits the court as the Kansas Jayhawks get set to take on the hungry Iowa State Cyclones, Saturday, Jan 27. Meeting the Cyclones at home, the game airs live on CBS from the James H. Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

Entering the 2023-24 season, the Kansas Jayhawks are one of the favorites entering the year as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA.

Beginning this year on a fivegame win streak, their success this season has been exceptional (9-1 as of Dec. 15), and with the major acquisition of a fourth-year transfer from Michigan State, Hunter Dickinson, a projected second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Jayhawks are looking to win it all.

Coming off his previous three seasons with Michigan, Dickinson is a presence at center, having averaged 18.5 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game and 1.8 blocks per game last season.

With the Jayhawks kicking off the season on fire, Dickinson hasn’t skipped a beat, improving in just about every area of his game, averaging 19.4 points per game while shooting for 63.7% from field goal range. On the defensive side, he’s been a handful for teams in the paint, averaging 12.6 rebounds per game and an improved average of 2.4 blocks per game, proving to his team and himself he made the right off-season move.

Having shown right out the gates to be a star player for the Jayhawks and solidifying his position in collegiate basketball, his dominance at the center position is exactly what the Jayhawks need as they continue their chase for another Big 12 championship and national championship.
