Here are the top 2024 area girls wrestlers

- Dennis Knight

Girls wrestling continues to grow in the Greater Savannah area.

The development of Richmond Hill's team was a testament to that fact this season as the Wildcats, who had just one female wrestler on the team last year, fielded a squad with 16 athletes this season and competed in the second annual Girls Team Duals State Tournament. The Wildcats achieved their goal of winning their first match in the competition and finished among the top eight teams in the state.

In the Girls Traditional State Tournament, Izzy West of Richmond Hill earned a state medal as she finished second at 110 pounds.

Tony Dragon is the All-Greater Savannah Girls Wrestling Coach of the Year for the work he has done developing the sport at Richmond Hill.

The All-Greater Savannah Wrestling team is announced today. The first-team selections will be recognized at the Coastal Empire High School Sports Awards show June 7 at the Johnny Mercer Theatre at the Savannah Civic Center, where the Girls Wrestler of the Year will be announced. The show is produced with support from Chatham Orthopaedic Associates.
