Leominster runs past Algonquin
The Leominster High boys track team beat Algonquin, 56-35, on Wednesday.
First-place finishers were Liam Curtain (shot put), Johnander Vargas (55 and high jump), Francis Nuamah (55 hurdles), Eddy Siaw (600) and Ivan Polanco (300).
Both the 4x200 ( Peter Spylios, Nuamah, Ivan
Koduah, Curtain) and the 4x400 (Mike Rochette, Ivan Polanco, Siaw, Jonathan Polanco) relays finished first as well.
Meanwhile, the Leominster girls track team lost to Algonquin, 81-10.
Leominster took first (Madison Paine) and third (Amanda Sobrinho) in the shot put.
Thailee Zarycki finished second in the 55 hurdles. Men’s basketball
The Falcons fell to 7-10 (1-3 MASCAC).
Trailing 65-56, Anthony Diaz sank a pair of free throws and made a defensive steal that led to an and-1 from freshman Xavier Betancourt to make it a 65-60 game. But BSU reeled of night straight to hold a 74-60 lead.
One last push that included 4 points from Betancourt made it 74-67, but the Bears made free throws down the stretch.
