Powell helped Obama fail

- Peter Lucas COLumnist EmAil comments to: luke1825@Aol.com.

Old soldiers never die, or even fade away, as they did back in the day when Gen. Douglas MacArthur was around.

These days they become Democrats or RINOS like Gen. Colin Powell, who as secretary of state helped usher in Republican President George Bush’s 2003 Iraq War.

This is the war that created ISIS which grew and flourished under President Barack Obama to the point that it became the terrorist Islamic caliphate, controlling land the size of Great Britain with $400 million in assets, mostly oil, and spreading terror in the Middle East, Europe and around the world.

The Iraq war was launched on phony intelligence Powell delivered to the United Nations and the world. He said that Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein secretly harbored weapons of mass destruction. None were ever found.

And instead of being welcomed as liberators, the U.S. was seen as occupiers. The first post war mistake, one of many, was disbanding the Iraqi Army, which could have provided security and stability. Instead thousands of ex-soldiers made ready recruits for a nascent ISIS.

But now that Powell supports Democrats for president instead of Republicans all is forgiven. Democrats rarely attack one of their own and RINO Powell is one of them. Powell, who endorsed Joe Biden at the Democratic convention, also supported Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump, as well as Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012.

While President Obama tried to make nice with the Muslim world, especially Iran, the murderous fanatics of ISIS, threw people off rooftops in Mosul and released videos of beheadings.

Recall the depressing mood of the country when in 2014 ISIS brazenly showed televised videos of the beheadings of noncombative captives. This included the barbaric decapitation of James Foley, while Obama/Biden looked on doing nothing. Foley, 40,was the intrepid Boston freelance journalist who was seized by ISIS in Syria in 2012.

The terrorist executors were confident that there would be no U.S response just as the Obama/Biden administration failed to rescue the four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, who were killed during the hours long attack by Islamic terrorists on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi in 2012.

Thanks to Trump, U.S. military advisers and the Kurds, the ISIS caliphate was destroyed. Seven months after ISIS crumbled, Abu Bakr alBaghdadi, its bloody leader, was tracked down and killed in a raid led by U.S. operatives.

Three months after al-Baghdadi’s death, Trump ordered the killing of General Qassim Soleimani, head of Iran’s terrorist Quds Force that was responsible for many American deaths in Iraq. He and a leader of Hezbollah were killed in a drone strike outside of Baghdad Jan. 3, 2020.

As late as 2016, his last year in office, the Obama administration was still sucking up to Iran in order to placate the Iranians over his nuclear arms deal, which Trump later trashed., However, Iran kept the cash that Obama sent to Iran, including the $400 million in cash as ransom for the release of four American hostages.

That was the period when Iran captured 10 U.S. sailors on two well-armed speedboats in the Persian Gulf. After humiliating them, the U.S. the sailors were released — but only after Secretary of State John Kerry had the commander apologize to the Iranians. Trump would have blown the Iranian gunboats out of the water.

Trump has rescued some 50 Americans who had been imprisoned or held hostage in Syria, Iran, Venezuela and elsewhere, some of whom were featured during the Republican convention.

And he did so without paying ransom to anyone.

Remember also the bloody civil war in Syria under dictator Bashar al-Assad that killed more than 500,000 Syrians and sent millions into exile, flooding neighboring countries as well as Europe with refugees.

Repeatedly Obama, Hillary Clinton and Kerry confidentially predicted that bloody Syrian dictator’s “days were numbered” and he would soon be gone. Now all these years later, Bashar al-Assad is still there, and the only people gone are Obama, Clinton and Kerry.

Which brings us to the breakthrough peace agreement reached between Israel and the United Arab Republic brokered by the Trump administration. It is the first such agreement in the troubled region in years.

If Obama had done it, he would have been congratulated and given another undeserved Nobel Peace Prize.

Since it was Trump’s accomplishment, the corrupt mainstream media ignored or downplayed the achievement.

No matter. Trump being Trump, he congratulated himself.
