Citywide water meter upgrade project
The city’s contractor, Baystate Winsupply, will be installing new water meters throughout the city Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Customers are notified via U.S. mail and asked to make appointments for meter replacement through a website or over the
phone.
Road construction
Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Expect road closures, delays and detours:
• Construction on Beech Street will continue
• Roadway reconstruction on Crawford Street from the Nashua River to the Leominster line will continue all week. The city’s contractor will be milling and paving on Tuesday and Wednesday, weather depending.
• Installation of handicap ramps on Water and Third street
• Paving on Ashby West Road will resume on Monday and continue for several weeks
Gas main work by Unitil/NEUCO, which may result in road closures and detours, will continue all week in the areas of:
• Electric Avenue from Old Deerfield Road to Milk Street
• Jeanette Street from Oak Hill Road to Reingold Avenue
• Reingold Avenue
from Franklin Road to Jeanette Street
• St. Camille Street from Franklin Road to Alden Street
• Middle of the intersection on Franklin Road at Clarendon Street
Street sweeping
Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
• Spot sweeping citywide. Residents are asked to sweep sidewalks in front of their properties. Sand should be placed in windrows and not in piles so that the equipment can successfully remove it.
Maintenance work
Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Minor traffic impacts:
• Pothole repairs in all wards.
• Sewer cleaning and video inspection of various locations, MondayFriday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Expect loud truck noise, localized detours and lane shifts.
• Sewer repairs on Elm Street and Oliver to Hartwell street, MondayFriday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Expect road closures and construction noise.
• Sewer manhole installation on Dwight Street. Schedule is weather permitting. Expect construction noise and day-time road closures.
• Manhole cover repairs on John Fitch Highway at Pearl Hill Road, TuesdayThursday. Expect road closures and detours.
• Repair water gate boxes at various locations throughout the city.
• Unitil will have tree crews in the areas of Princeton Road, Westminster Street and Wallace Road all week.
Hydrants
• Hydrant flushing on the high system (hydrants with red tops) in the area of Ashby State Road, including all side/interconnecting streets
