Philanthropy, golf game still strong for hospital
LEOMINSTER » The coronavirus has had a huge impact on the ability of nonprofits across the region to engage donors and enjoy special events all to support a favorite cause.
That’s been true at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance- Clinton Hospital as well. Over the past six months, the hospital has canceled its two largest fundraising events — the 13th annual Cat’s Meow Speakeasy Tasting Gala and the 30th annual Golf Classic. However, donors and corporate partners alike continue to provide much-needed financial support for front-line caregivers during the pandemic.
Recently, 20 golfers enjoyed a great day at the Haven Country Club in Boylston at a donor thank you event after raising more than $80,000 to support the COVID-19 Relief Fund at the hospital.
“We are incredibly grateful to our community,” said Steve Roach, interim president at Health AllianceClinton Hospital .“They continue to step up in myriad ways to support the hospital. Our caregivers have seen first-hand the tragedy and struggles of facing COVID-19 and the incredible outpouring of support from individuals and businesses throughout North Central Massachusetts. Believe me, they are appreciative of the handmade masks, every donated meal and they understand the impact that financial contributions mean on our campuses. We can’t thank our community enough.”
