Fitchburg man arrested for allegedly threatening to kill girlfriend
FITCHBURG » Police arrested a city man on Monday after he got in argument with his girlfriend that became physical before he allegedly pushed her down a flight of stairs and threatened to kill her, according to police and court documents.
Police said officers were sent
2 Ray Ave., on the report of a disturbance and when they arrived they spoke with a 17-year-old girl who told them she was trying to comfort her boyfriend David Gonzales, 18, of Ray Avenue, over a dog of his that was dying, the reporting officer said.
As she was trying to comfort him, the victim told police he became agitated and grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her down a flight of stairs and when she got up and began to run away, Gonzales began screaming to her, threatening to kill her, the officer reported, adding the victim had red
markings on her forehead and her ribs were hurting.
She refused medical treatment on the scene, but told the officer she was going to a local hospital for evaluation, the officer reported.
The officer spoke with Gonzales who acknowledged they had gotten in an argument that became physical, but that they both fallen down the stairs.
Gonzales was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery and threatening to commit a crime, according to court documents.
When arraigned Monday, Gonzales, who pleaded not guilty, was released on personal recognizance and ordered to return to court on March 2 for a
pretrial hearing, according court documents.
