Oscar Montañez Ramos, our charming and witty father, grandfathe­r, and great grandfathe­r of Gardner, Massachuse­tts passed away the evening of December 17th,

2020 at the age of 89. He fought mercilessl­y until he could no longer. He was cared for with kindness and respect at Heywood Hospital Gardner, MA. Oscar, the son of Nicolasa Rivera Ramos and Cecilio Rivera Ortega was born and raised in Juncos, Puerto Rico on November

12, 1931, where he became a proud member of the United States Army. Later, becoming a welder in NYC. Oscar enjoyed his later days at the Care Central VNA & Hospice, Inc. Adult Daycare when not at home with his family, where he took every opportunit­y to humor his captive audience. He worshiped as an active member of Gardner Spanish

SDA Church. He is survived by his wife, Paquita Carrasquil­lo, his son Oscar Montañez, Jr., his daughters Marilyn Velázquez, Brenda Montañez, Amarilys Martinez, Monica Sanchez, Christine Montañez and Celia Sepulveda. He also leaves his brothers Miguel Rivera Ramos, Maximino Rivera Ramos and Nicolas Rivera Ramos. His sisters Carmen D. Rivera Ramos, Rosa M. Rivera Ramos and Santa M. Rivera Ramos. Many grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren and great great grandchild­ren as well. Oscar was predecease­d by a son, Hector Montañez, a daughter, Michelle Montañez and a brother, Juan Montañez. Please honor the life of Oscar Montanez by fulfilling a random act of kindness and sharing a silly joke with someone. He will be laid to rest at a later time in Juncos, Puerto Rico. Oscar always kept the Lord first in his life, and he believed in the promise made by Jesus, “I am the resurrecti­on and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live” (John 11:25).
