Vaccine distribution for elected elites is a dose of political garbage

Have you been given an opportunity to receive the coronavirus vaccine? Most likely not. The new vaccine in its limited availability and rollout is rightfully reserved for health care workers, first responders and the elderly who are the most vulnerable among us.

It’s supposed to go to the people who risk their own lives daily and are exposed to the coronavirus more than the rest of us. However, over the last week we have come to discover that the special few, the political elite have been given and granted special “emergency” access to sparse doses of the vaccine.

While many health care workers have yet to receive their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, both the Democrat and Republican elite (elite in their own minds) have been given the option to take the vaccine. Our Massachusetts Senators Warren and Markey, both leaped at the chance to cut the line. Much of our congressional delegation took the vaccine. The self-absorbed, well known political hacks who took months upon months to finally approve a coronavirus relief package for the starving Americans who elected them, skipped the line.

Evidently many of the political class find themselves “essential.” Some of us find them less than important and closer to useless, but certainly not essential. Massachusetts Congresswoman Clark said: “Upon medical advice, I received a coronavirus vaccine this morning. A vaccine has been made available to Congress because of the need for continuity of government operations. While I am no more deserving of the vaccine than anyone else, I want to demonstrate that coronavirus vaccines are safe and effective.”

Such arrogance. I wonder if your aged mother and or grandfather should wait in line, while these elected scrubs get their shoulders swabbed?

The Republican Senator from Utah and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney took his dose, as well as Marco Rubio. These elected goons remind us of the men who knocked women and children out of lifeboats when the Titanic was sinking. The whole idea that somehow, they are critical to the continuity of government, when they are about to take a holiday recess is laughable. I’ll bet the patients at the local nursing home will sleep soundly knowing Romney and Rubio are safe, while the coronavirus spreads in their facility. No, Mitt! Please take Grammy’s dose. You deserve it more than the firefighter, the police officer and the nurse helping her into the bathroom!

It’s rare, but I will give Gov. Baker and Congressman Steve Lynch a tip of the cap for displaying common sense during this initial vaccine distribution phase. Baker said, “The folks who work at our hospitals generally and in our health care system generally getting vaccinated is a lot more important

than me and frankly a lot more meaningful, I think, to most people.” Baker continued, “I don’t really think of myself as somebody who should get vaccinated before I actually qualify as an individual.”

Congressman Lynch said he is “waiting for the vaccine to be first offered to health care personnel, first responders and vulnerable seniors,” in his district.

Yes, governor and congressman, most of us agree with you and you deserve a pat on the back for realizing you’re not more important than a doctor.

Although the arrogant politicians who took the vaccine want to appear as courageous and models of good behavior, most of us know they are cowards. Democrats said the vaccine wouldn’t be safe during the presidential election and that operation “Warp Speed” was a lie. What happened for them to gain such confidence now? Enough confidence to walk past vital health care workers.
