Local first responders take their best shot

LEOMINSTER » HealthAlliance- Clinton Hospital administered the COVID-19 vaccine to first responders from across the commonwealth on Monday, where more than 50 of them received the vaccine, with another 100 scheduled for Wednesday and Friday this week.

“We are thrilled to be able to support our community and the commonwealth by rolling out the vaccine to first responders,” said Steve Roach, interim president of HealthAlliance

Clinton Hospital. “We’ve already vaccinated more than 800 or our 1,100 caregivers and we’re now moving on to impact those groups who join us on the front lines of this battle.”

First responders from across the commonwealth were notified of the availability of the vaccine last week via the Mass.Gov website. With locations in Leominster, Marlborough, Worcester, Amherst, Lowell and Needham, the goal was to offer convenient locations for all first responders to be vaccinated quickly.

“After the commonwealth went live with the registration online, we were immediately completely full of registered first responders for the entire week,” Roach said. “We had first responders from across the region and as far away as Dartmouth. Clearly, they were excited to get the vaccine and incredibly gracious to our caregivers for making it possible. We can’t thank the commonwealth enough for the support they are providing us.”

Vaccinations for first responders will continue over the next few weeks across the Commonwealth.
