Nonprofit seeks apps for grants

Must involve environmen­tal preservati­on and animal welfare

FITCHBURG » The Community Foundation of North Central Massachuse­tts, an organizati­on serving the charitable interests of donors throughout 33 communitie­s in the north central region of the commonweal­th, is now accepting online grant applicatio­ns for its Environmen­tal Preservati­on and Animal Welfare Grant Program.

“We are very proud of our region and cherish its natural resources,” said Stephen Adams, president of the Community Foundation. “The Environmen­tal Preservati­on and Animal Welfare Grant Program focuses on preserving and providing access to the natural beauty of North Central Massachuse­tts, as well as enhancing the welfare of domestic animals.”

The CFNCM is accepting online grant applicatio­ns through Feb. 26 and award decisions will be finalized April 22. Applicatio­ns can be submitted by visiting the Community Foundation website at cfncm.org/ Receive/Apply-For-AGrant/Environmen­t- andAnimal-Welfare.

Examples of projects that would qualify for Environmen­tal Preservati­on and Animal Welfare grants include those involving:

■ Land or water preservati­on

■ Habitat restoratio­n

■ Improving public access to natural places

■ Environmen­tal or outdoor education

■ Animal rescue, protection and placement

■ Animal welfare education

Applicatio­ns must include what the grant funds will be used for, why the cause matters to North Central Massachuse­tts, measurable objectives and other details about the project. The CFNCM supports programs, projects and initiative­s that address the Foundation’s goals and action areas, are executed by nonprofit organizati­ons, and align with the applicant’s mission.
