Misplaced impeachment

- — Herschel Jones Westminster

The recent AP and other leftist uproar over the Jan. 6 invasion of the U. S. Capitol has been totally and unfairly misplaced.

I understand why the leftist pols, supported by an equally liberal press, would want to “reprogram” conservatives and any of the 74 million supporters who voted for former President Donald Trump as several have noted, since there will still be some long memories at work during the 2022 elections coming up.

Putting that aside, however, let’s take another look at the way the Jan. 6 invasion unfolded. Speaker Nancy Pelosi was informed, more than once, by the FBI, as much as five days before the invasion, that something of this nature was being planned by some paramilitary groups.

Pelosi, as Speaker of the House, number three in succession to the presidency, is responsible for ensuring the protection of the Capitol building. She along with the Sergeantat-Arms, decided, on the basis that “the optics would be bad,” not to accept the several offers of protection that were made. What she meant, it now seems obvious, the optics would be bad for Trump if an invasion occurred. Pelosi, not Trump, is criminally responsible for that invasion and should be charged for that premeditated crime.
