Sexton-diranian elected to Board of Selectmen

There were no contested races in Monday’s town election, but residents will see some new faces on town boards.

Chaz Sexton-Diranian was elected to the Board of Selectmen Monday, receiving 190 votes according to unofficial results.

Sexton-Diranian will replace incumbent Wayne Miller who did not seek re-election. He currently serves as the state representa­tive to the Housing Authority and as a member of the Planning Board. He was to assume his duties for Tuesday night’s meeting.

Newcomer Jessica Ann Funaiole received 194 votes and will join the North Middlesex Regional School District School Committee. She was unopposed.

John Barrett was re-elected to both moderator with 213 votes and as a member of the Cemetery and Parks Commission with 214 votes. Judith

Lewin Maider was re-elected to the Board of Library Trustees with 195 votes, and Stephen Spofford won a new three-year term as the veteran member on the Trustees of Soldiers Memorials with 199 votes.

Townsend will also welcome newcomers Gavin Byars (165 votes) to the Board of Health,

Michael Virostko (162 votes) to the Planning Board, and Christophe­r Jones (169 votes) to the Board of Water Commission­ers.

No candidates appeared on the ballot or won a write-in campaign for either the three-year or two

year terms on the Amanda E. Dwight Entertainm­ent Committee. Both three-year terms on the Recreation Commission, a threeyear non-veteran seat on the Trustees of Soldiers Memorials, a five-year seat on the Townsend Housing Authority, an additional three-year seat on the Board of Library Trustees, and both a fiveyear and a four-year seat on the Planning Board remain vacant.
