FSU men notch consecutiv­e wins for 1st time this season

The Fitchburg State men’s basketball team survived a late surge by host MCLA Monday night, holding on to win, 60- 59, in North Adams.

Frederick Siayor scored a team- high 15 points off the bench for the Falcons ( 4-11, 2-2 MASCAC), while Dayne had 13 points and 18 rebounds.

Darian Norwood added nine points for FSU, which has now won back- to- back contests for the first time this season.

Girls basketball

NORTH BROOKFIELD 45, SIZER 18 » Amanda King had 10 points in a losing effort.

Girls track

The Lunenburg girls came up big at the MSTCA Div. 5 Relays over the weekend, taking second place and finishing just one point behind Weston in a field featuring over two dozen schools.

The scoring was done with each event as a re

lay, with points awarded for the top six finishes.

The sprint medley( running 200-200400- 800) took second, with Carli Stanford, Olivia Waldron, Rylan Arnold and Abby Rodriquenz qualifying for Nationals with a time of 4: 23.

The distance medley ( 1200- 400- 800-1600) of Rodriquenz, Arnold, Breanna Bajko and Lauren Long also finished second.

Lunenburg’s shot put relay of Alexa Jenkins, Sarah Viveiros and Grace Richard claimed third, as did the long jump relay, comprised of Richard, Carli Stanford and Olivia Waldron.

The 4x800 relay ( Bajko, Ava Pilon, Evee Mabon, Long) and the 4x50

Hurdles ( Karynna Long, Addison Jacobs, Lyla Dellasanta, Aliya Holden) each took fourth.

The high jump relay ( Karynna Long, Rodriquenz, Dellasanta) and the 4x50 ( Reese Haefner, Viveiros, Waldron, Stanford) each had fifth- place finishes..

Women’s basketball

FITCHBURG STATE 59, MCLA 51 » Jadelen Harold led the way with 16 points, six boards and an assist for the Falcons ( 2-12, 1-2 MASCAC). Lovashia Rosario added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the win.

Fitchburg State will host Westfield State tomorrow night with a 5 p. m. tip.
