The Fitchburg State baseball team’s postseason fate hangs on three games.

The Falcons (9-28 overall) square off with Framingham State for a trio of contests to close the regular season and with one game separating Fitchburg and the Rams in the conference standings, the winner of the the series will advance to the conference playoffs, Fitchburg State play-byplay man Tim Foley noted on Twitter this week.

Fitchburg State enters the set with a 5-13 mark in MASCAC play, sitting in sixth place. Framingham is 4-14, on the outside looking in, at the moment. The winner of two games advances to the postseason.

The top six teams earn a playoff berth, with the top two seeds automatically landing in the conference semifinals.

The teams will open the series Friday afternoon in Framingham before playing a pair Saturday at Riccards Field in Fitchburg.

For those looking to recent history in order to make a prediction on how things will go, good luck; the Rams and Falcons haven’t played this season.

But if momentum means anything, the Falcons have that on their side.

Fitchburg has won three of its last five, while the Rams (928 overall) have dropped eight in a row.
