Patriots come up short in tourney loss

The North Middlesex Regional boys lacrosse team battled for four quarters, but came up on the losing end of a 11-9 contest against Groton-dunstable in the Central Mass. Athletic Directors Associatio­n Class A quarterfin­als.

Mason Schultz netted four goals and added an assist to pace the Patriots. Shaun Highley (assist), Joe Williams (assist) and Finn Mcnabb each scored twice in the loss, while Jimmy O’keefe and Jake Dwight had single goals.

North Middlesex goalkeeper Luke Maclean made a half dozen saves.

Girls lacrosse

NIPMUC 18, OAKMONT 7 >>

Meghan Heffernan scored three times and Dani Burke added a pair of goals as the Spartans fell in the CMADA Class B quarterfin­als. Maryl Hooper and Addi Roy each scored once and netminder Annika Sallila made nine saves in defeat. LEOMINSTER 20, WESTBORO 4 >> The Blue Devils stormed to victory in the CMADA Class A quarterfin­als at Doyle Field.

Baseball

ALGONQUIN 8, NORTH MIDDLESEX 2 >> Ashton Donia (1-for-3) and Kyle Lewis (1for-1) each drove in a run for the Patriots.

Volleyball

LEOMINSTER 3, KEEFE TECH 1 >>

The Blue Devils advanced to the final of the CMADA tournament with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-22, 25-17 victory over the Broncos.

Daniel Caetano had 23 kills, 16 digs, 15 service points — including four aces — and four blocks in the win, while Isaias An

ziani had 26 digs, six service points and two digs. Andy Truong dished out 52

assists to go 10 digs and 10 service points for the Blue Devils.

Girls tennis

NORTHBRIDG­E 4, NORTH MIDDLESEX 1 >> Lizzy Holsinger

and Liv Freeman won in first doubles action for the Patriots.
