Spartans roll into Class B final

Smith, Allen power Oakmont past Northbridg­e

The top- seeded Oakmont Regional baseball team bested No. 5 Northbridg­e, 7-2, in a Central Mass. Athletic Directors Associatio­n Class B semifinal in Ashburnham Thursday afternoon.

The Spartans (18-2) advance to face No. 3 Hudson in the Class B final Wednesday at Tivnan Field in Worcester with a time to be announced.

Isaiah Smith drove in three and scored a run, while Jake O’day had two RBI to go with a run scored and Sam Curtis crossed the plate twice in the victory.

Caleb Allen went the distance for the Spartans, scattering four

hits in seven innings on the hill. MARLBORO 10, LUNENBURG 4 >> The loss drops the Blue Knights to 8-9. NASHOBA 5, DOHERTY 3 >> The victory lifts the Wolves back to .500 at 10-10.

Softball

OAKMONT 11, BAY PATH 10 >> Mia Curtis went 2-for- 5, scoring twice and driving in three, as the Spartans (9-10) snuck past Bay Path. Myla Mexico had three hits and two RBI and Lauren Collazo scored three runs in the victory.

Lunenburg 10, Blackstone-millville 2: Ava Koziol struck out 10 to earn the win and Sarah Viveiros drove in three runs to power the Blue Knights (8-9). Lillian Grebinar, Chloe Koziol and Eliza Zivojinovi­c each notched pair of hits

in the victory.

Girls lacrosse

TYNGSBORO 8, LUNENBURG 6 >> The loss drops the Blue Knights to 118.

Boys tennis

ALGONQUIN 3, NASHOBA 2 >> Philip Baykov won in second singles for the Wolves (13- 5) and the second doubles pairing of Leo Lima and Brian Quill- Schuffels was also victorious as Nashoba fell in the CMADA Class A semifinals.

Girls tennis

DOHERTY 3, FITCHBURG 2 >> The loss drops the Red Raiders to 7-7.

WACHUSETT 4, NASHOBA 1 >> JJ Bravo picked up the lone victory for the Wolves (9- 9), winning in

third singles.

Men’s track and field

Fitchburg State freshman Liam Bourassa had an impressive showing in the javelin at the NCAA Division 3 Outdoor Championsh­ips at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex in Rochester, New York. The Shirley native had a personalbe­st throw of 63.76m to claim sixth at the national meet and earn All-american status.

Bourassa entered the meet ranked 10th in the nation in the javelin after securing his spot into the National Championsh­ips with a fourth place toss of 62.61 meters at the New England Intercolle­giate Amateur Athletic Associatio­n Championsh­ips earlier this month.
