Make your own hand and foot scrubs

Kulina Folk Art owner says scrubs ‘hydrate and nourish’

- By Cheryl A. Cuddahy

LEOMINSTER >> Garine Arakelian, owner of Kulina Folk Art Creative Workshops, is excited to host the “Make Your Own 100% Natural Hand and Foot Scrubs” workshop at the library from 6-7 p.m. on Oct. 11.

“Tweens and teens ages 11 to 13 are invited to join me to make hand scrubs and foot scrubs with a few simple everyday ingredients,” said Arakelian. “You can take these scrubs home and enjoy a relaxing spa day in the comfort of your own home.”

The process to create a variety of personal blends is fun and informative, says Arakelian.

“During this hands- on workshop each participant will create two different scrubs, a hand scrub and a foot scrub,” she said. “We will be using 100% natural ingredients, such as luxurious salts, coffee grounds, oatmeal, carrier oils and essential oils. These scrubs not only buff away dead skin cells but they will also hydrate and nourish the skin. They are a 2-in-1 product; exfoliant and moisturizer.”

No preservatives will be added to the finished product

This workshop is perfect for beginners and/or anyone wanting to learn how to make exfoliants.

At the end of the session each participant will go home with two 8 oz. jars of scrubs and all the information needed to make more.

Arakelian, a third-generation artist and potter, offers a variety of creative programs. Her studio is located among the hills of central Massachusetts, and she shares it with Master Potter Rick Hamelin. Together they share a homestead with two cats and a flock of chickens.
