FITCHBURG - Mary A. (Craffey) Cunningham, age 92, and resident of Fitchburg, MA, passed away on December 2, 2023. She is predecease­d by her loving husband John T. Cunningham.

Mary, also known as “Sis” was born in Milton, MA on October 12, 1931. The daughter of the late James F. and Florance (Jonnelly) Craffey. Mary was a graduate of St. Bernard’s High in 1950, and Interior Designer of Boston.

Mary was an accomplish­ed artist. Her watercolor pastels, and oil subjects were regularly included in the local art expedition at Tower Hills West Boylston, Fitchburg Art Museum, Leominster MA Art Associatio­n and Jaffrey Civic, winning several ribbons. Mary taught sewing service for adult education for several years. She was also very active at Burbank Hospital Guild Buyer, and decorating the Gift Shoppe windows, also Co-chair of the Burbank Hospital 1979. Mary was an Interior Designer for the Ethan Allen Gallery, winning the top Designer Award from Danbury Cora.

She leaves behind three children John M. Cunningham of Gardner, MA, Jamie Cunningham of Florida, and a daughter Patrice Brown of Colorado. Most of all, Mary loved her six great grandchild­ren and four grandchild­ren. Especially at her summer camp swimming, especially her bike riding every day up Mt. Wachusett. But she especially loved life. She is predecease­d by her son, Stephen Cunningham.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Mary for a period of visitiatio­n on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. Fitchburg, MA, from 10:00am until 12:00pm. A mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 13, 2023, following calling hours, at St. Edward the Confessor, 10 Church St, Westminste­r, MA 01473 at 12:30pm. Burial at a later date.
