Favreau not right for Billerica

-

I am writing to speak out against Board of Selectmen candidate Dina Favreau. Thanks to her, we the people of Billerica have lost the opportunity to fix our Town Center. We the people of Billerica spoke through our Town Meeting representatives to accept a grant to pay for a plan to redesign the Center. This plan would fix the huge mistake made in 1980 when the Center’s current configuration was constructed.

Our elderly and handicapped citizens have, for years, complained about the unsafe and difficult crossing of the Center. Mothers crossing with young children and students heading to and from Billerica Memorial High School are also at risk when trying to cross over the roads.

The yellow flashers at the crosswalks have not made it easier to cross. I have seen cars ignore the flashing lights and refuse to yield. We cannot have a person on the BOS who blatantly disrespects the vote of the people’s representatives at Town Meeting. This woman is not for the people of this town. Her actions to overturn the vote of Town Meeting shows how selfish she is that she can’t accept the basic rule of democracy, “MAJORITY RULES”.

The vote in February didn’t even bring in 25% of the registered voters. A small minority cancelled what the majority of the people’s representatives voted in favor for. Now the grant money is gone thanks to this person.

Our Town Center needs fixing! We cannot allow it to stay the way it is. What other city or town in this commonwealth has a rotary around its common? It is ridiculous and asinine to leave it like it is. Our center needs to be fixed and fixed now. Thanks to Ms. Favreau any fix will cost the taxpayers of this town. The grant she selfishly had thrown away, wouldn’t have cost us anything.

Ms. Favreau is not right for this town and doesn’t deserve to be elected, when she has shown she doesn’t respect the people of this town.
