SHS rebounds, beats Clear Fork

-

BELLVILLE — Concerned with the play of her team, Shelby volleyball coach Brandie Albert shook up her lineup.

The Lady Whippets responded with a 3-0 Mid Ohio Athletic Conference win against Clear Fork and snapped a two-game losing streak Thursday evening.

SHS improved to 2-4 in the MOAC and 4-7 overall after winning games of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-18.

“We changed the lineup and made a few adjustments. We took the court and looked ready to play right away. We have several corrections to make, but spirit and enjoyment were present on the court tonight and that often times makes good things happen,” said Albert.

Makenna Miller topped the Shelby hitters with eight kills. Olivia Baker and Kassie Stine each had seven while Reyna Hoffman was next with six.

The Whippets delivered 10 ace serves in the win and were led in that category by Kassie Stine’s three. Demi Hipp followed with a pair.

Stine also sparked SHS in digs with 18. Marleigh Albert completed 50 sets and Sydnie Seibert 45. They finished with 18 and 14 assists, respectively.

Hoffman tallied eight receptions without an error.

The Shelby coach said her team would continue to fine-tune their play.

“We need to smooth out these changes in the lineup and push for another win Saturday at home against Lexington,” remarked Albert.
