SC rallies past Plymouth 40-35

GREENWICH — Plymouth took a lead into the fourth quarter, but South Central caught fire in the fourth quarter and rallied for a 40-35 Firelands Conference girls basketball triumph Thursday evening.

After the two schools fought to a 6-6 standoff through the opening stanza, the Lady Big Red nudged ahead 14-10 at halftime and 27-23 at the close of the third frame.

The Trojans, who are 5-5 in the conference and 8-7 overall, outscored the visitors 17-8 during the fourth, keyed by Kendyl Beverly and Kennedy Deppen with 13 and 4 points, respective­ly. Beverly finished the night with 19 and Deepen wound up with eight.

Erin Steven netted 11 points for Plymouth, now 1-9 in league play and 2-13 in games. Teammates Cierra Trotter and Makenzie Back collected 11 and 10 rebounds, respective­ly.

Tuesday the Big Red fell to Monroevill­e 40-24.
