Barbara Jean “Barb” Holmer, age 68, of Shelby, died Tuesday morning, May 11, 2021 at Liberty Nursing Center of Mansfield.

Barb was born January 15, 1953 in Tiffin to the late Leonard Anthony and Bernadette (Falter) Holmer. She was a 1971 graduate of Seneca East High School. Barb began her working career at Pioneer Rubber in Willard/attica and most recently had worked for a janitorial service through The Rehab Center in Mansfield.

Barb’s hobbies included collecting small trinkets (especially dolls), gardening, and always had a soft spot in her heart for any kind of animal. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her sisters: Kathleen Metzger and Susan Athy. Her survivors include her brothersin-law: Michael Metzger and Paul Athy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, May 14, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation on Friday at 11 am at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 29 West Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875. Fr. Chris Mileski will be the celebrant and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to the church.
