SHELBY- On Tuesday evening, Shelby Fire Department responded to a call about a possible house fire on St. Rt. 39.

At 6:25 p.m, the Shelby Fire Department traveled to the location of 3551 St. Rt. 39. It was reported there was a basement fire in the report provided by the Shelby Fire Department.

Upon arrival, the report stated smoke was visible. At the residence, there was power and the lights were on. The report stated a few dogs could be seen in the smoke.

The rear slider was opened to allow the dogs to exit the environment, the report continued.

It appeared three dogs had come out of the house. The report stated entry was made through the rear sliding door that was unlocked to search for any occupants. Fire fighters used a thermal camera to identify where the fire was and from there, the fire was extinguished.

The report said upon entry to the basement door, there was a busted waterline in the ceiling area, where the basement floor had several inches of water already in it.

Once the main body of the fire was diminished, firefighters used a ventilation fan to help remove the heavy smoke condition.

The power was shut off at the main breaker by the fire department.

Shortly after, the family arrived to pick up the dogs. The owner of the home stated that on Monday, November 22 between 3-5 pm., her son was at the residence to feed the dogs that were inside, the report said//.

The Red Cross was contacted to handle any clothing needs for the family. Once the fire department completed their activity, the home was turned back over to the owner. The fire investigation is open and is undetermined at this time.
