Freshmensophomore won by SHS
It was a track and field sweep for Shelby at their own Freshmensophomore Invitational Saturday.
The boys and girls teams of the Whippets bested nine other schools during the competition.
The SHS girls rounded up 165 points and enjoyed a comfortable margin over runner-up Colonel Crawford with 114.5.
Shelby’s boys totaled 140.5 points for the win and Sandusky Perkins was second with 120.
Riley Ramey stood out for the Whippets and ruled the high jump (5-8) and the 200 dash (23.52). He also joined Miles Hall, A.J. Roll and Skyler Winters in taking the 4 x 100 (45.90) and combined with Winters, Hall and Ethan Dawson to win the 4 x 200 (1:37.34).
Also winning events for the SHS boys were Ferron Pena in the discus (118-6), Marshall Moore in the 400 (54.96) and Indy Mayer in the 3,200 (10:48.46).
Posting victories for the Shelby girls were Kassidy Riggle in the shot put (299.5), Peyton Putnam in the 100 hurdles (18.17), Ava Bowman in the 400 (1:05.02), Gabrielle Stumbo in the 300 hurdles (54.28), Channon Cundiff in the 800 (2:28.18), Alainah Carmel in the 200 (33.11) and
