Amerihealth Caritas Ohio contracts with Metrohealth
Amerihealth Caritas Ohio and Metrohealth announced today they have signed a contract to allow Amerihealth Caritas Ohio’s Medicaid managed care members to receive care from Metrohealth’s hospitals, physicians, and other affiliated providers. Amerihealth Caritas Ohio is a managed care organization slated to begin serving Ohio Medicaid enrollees later this year and part of the Amerihealth Caritas Family of Companies.
“At Amerihealth Caritas Ohio, we focus on whole-person, community-centered care,” said Amerihealth Caritas Ohio Market President Mark Grippi. “We are proud to team up with the dedicated providers at Metrohealth and give Ohioans access to the quality care they deserve.”
Founded in 1837, Metrohealth operates four hospitals, four emergency departments and more than 20 health centers throughout Cuyahoga County. The system serves more than 300,000 patients, two-thirds of whom are uninsured or covered by Medicare or Medicaid. The system’s more than 600 doctors, 1,700 nurses and 7,800 employees support Metrohealth’s mission of service, to their patients and to the community.
“As Cuyahoga County’s public, safety-net health system, Metrohealth plays an essential role in the region,” said
Metrohealth Executive Vice President and Chief Population and Digital Health Officer Nabil Chehade, M.D. “The Metrohealth System is redefining health care by going beyond medical treatment to improve the foundations of community health and well-being. Amerihealth Caritas Ohio shares that vision, and we look forward to partnering with them to accomplish this goal.”
Amerihealth Caritas Ohio was one of seven health care organizations selected by the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) to lead the department’s next generation of managed care services. Members will continue to receive services with their current plans through the transition period and will have the opportunity to select a new plan through an open enrollment period.
