Plymouth safety town program for kids

Plymouth Police Chief, Tom Hintz, is pleased to announce that his department will be sponsoring the Plymouth Safety Town program for children entering kindergart­en this fall. This event will be held at the Pymouth-shiloh Elementary School, and all children are welcome to attend.

Every day, children are facing new challenges as they learn the safe and proper way to cross streets, wear a helmet while riding a bicycle and understand the colors and meaning of the traffic lights and traffic signs.

Safety town week is scheduled for Monday through Friday, June 13 2022 – June 17, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. The safety classes will be conducted Monday – Thursday, ending with a graduation ceremony on Friday. There is no fee for attendance in this program.

Plymouth Safety Town provides a unique presentati­on of safety awareness lessons specifical­ly designed for a child entering kindergart­en. The children will be instructed on life-long basic safety practices, such as seat belt and bicycle safety, pedestrian safety, stranger-danger prevention, a tour of the Plymouth Police Department at the Plymouth Fire Department. Animal safety and more safety avenues will be covered. The Safety Town will close on

Friday, June 17, 2022 with all the pomp and circumstan­ce for graduation day.

Each child will be issued an “activity bag” which includes Paw Patrol coloring book, crayons, puzzles, stickers and more. Also each child will be sized and issued a bicycle helmet on the first day of class.

A customized “safety Town” is created and utilized by the children while attending this program.

Registrati­on forms are available at the Plymouth Police Department (*Including the Plymouth Police Department Facebook) and the Plymouth-shiloh elementary School. The number of children for this training is limited.

Applicatio­ns will be accepted and confirmed on a first come first serve basis. Once you have registered your child for the Plymouth Safety Town, and an unexpected event prevents your child to attend, please notify the Plymouth Police Department (below) as soon as possible, prior to the first day of class. This open spot can be filled by a child on the waiting list.

Deadline for applicatio­ns is Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
