SOFTBALL Bruskotter whiffs 10, tosses perfect game

Peyton Bruskotter fired a perfect game as Healing Hands bounced the Fraternal Order of Police 14-0 during a major division game in the Shelby Girls Softball League at the Dowds School complex.

The contest was halted at the end of five innings by the 10-run rule and over that stretch Bruskotter struck out 10 batters.

Kylee Brooks and Kendall Bowman each smashed three hits to pace Healing Hands. Karlie Fuller, Brylee Carver and Bella Bushey totaled two singles apiece. Bruskotter belted a double while Karsyn Adkins and Grace Shatzer each had a basehit.

Accurate Auto 12, Shasky’s Roll-off Containers 2

Chloe Mahek homered twice and twin sister Emma Mahek added a round tripper as Accurate Auto belted Shasky’s Roll-off Containers 12-2 during a major division clash.

The Mahek sisters also had a single in the win. Cheyenne Corbitt and Salem Keller each had a basehit in the win.

Lily Barker singled twice for Shasky’s Rolloff Containers while Grace Hopkins had a double.

Emma Mahek was the winning pitcher and she finished with 12 strikeouts and four walks. Grace Hopkins fanned eight and walked 10 in the loss and later relieved by Courtney Howarth.

Gwirtz Foods 17, D.R. Roofing 2

Kaelynn Nickell hit for the cycle as Gwirtz Food routed major division foe D.R. Roofing by a 17-2 count.

With a single, double, triple and home run, Nickell was the leading hitter for Gwirtz Foods. Makayla Bowman belted three singles while Kerryn Seibert, Liberty Lewis, Hensley Burrer, Brylee Unger, Raegan Mccoy and Megan Adkins all had a pair of hits.

Collecting one hit apiece for D.R. Roofing were Zola Yetzer, Macie Keller, Ella Keller, Hayleigh Harsh and Maria Vargas.

Jordyn Thauvette was the winning pitcher and she racked up 14 strikeouts and six walks. Makenna Moyer struck out six and walked none in the loss.

Gwirtz Foods 16, Fraternal Order of Police 6

Three hits from Liberty Lewis, including a double, propelled Gwirtz Foods to a 16-6 victory over Fraternal Order of Police in a major division fray.

Kaelynn Nickell stroked a home run and a single while Jayden

Crabtree had a pair of single. Jordyn Thauvette, Kerryn Seibert, Makayla Bowman, Brylee Unger, Raegan Mccoy and Megan Adkins each had a basehit.

Jayla Rank topped Fraternal Order of Police with three singles. Kamari Moreno and Jordyn Garrabrant each had a hit.

Kensley Burrer pitched 4 1/3 innings for the win and allowed six runs on five hits with four strikeouts and four walk. Thauvette went the last two outs and had a strikeout. Rank suffered the loss and had seven strikeouts and two walks.

Shelby Alliance Church 9, HRC Enterprise 5

Shelby Alliance Church turned back HRC Enterprise by a 9-5 count during minor division competitio­n.

Maddilynn Stump banged out a double for Shelby Alliance Church. Ciarra Nolen, Matalyn Byrd and Lucy Enyeart all had a hit.

Sophia Carver and Kaylee Dabney each collected a single for HRC Enterprise.

Kendall Eikleberry was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts and six walks. Emalyn Jamison also pitched in the win and recorded one strikeout and five walks. Makenzie Couch struck out four and walked 10 in the loss.
