Charles L. Harding, age 89, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, following a brief illness.

Born November 4, 1933, in Melmore, Ohio to Ralph and Grace (Ziegler) Harding, he was a Shelby resident since 1971 after moving from New Washington. A 1953 graduate of Bloomville High School, he was employed as welder maintenanc­e at General Motors for 35 years. A member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, Charles was a great mechanic, an avid reader of history and Christian books and taught bible school for many years. He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with them and reminiscin­g about the old days.

He is survived by his beloved wife Eloise Mae (Stansberry) Harding whom he married on May 8, 1958; children, Robert (Sharon) Harding of Shelby, Christine (Mike) Nagel of Attica and Wendy Harding of Ogden, UT; grandchild­ren, Nicole Harding of Columbus, Josh (Kate) Nagel of Attica, Hannah Harding of Plain City, Dante ( Haley) Peluso of Ogden, UT, Jake (Makayla) Nagel of Tiffin and Sarah Harding of Plain City; three great grandchild­ren Bennett, Blake, Hadley

Nagel and one on the way; siblings Ralph Eugene Harding of Tiffin, Carolyn Brown of Sycamore and Sharon (Richard) Schaffer of Shelby.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Grace.

Friends may call the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory Tuesday, January 10, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Services will be held immediatel­y following at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jeffrey Croft officiatin­g. Interment will take place at a later date in Oakland Cemetery.

In place of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church at 209 E. Main St, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
