Summer events kick off at MML
SHELBY- Marvin Memorial Library is gearing up for summer with a number of events that those of all ages will be sure to enjoy.
To get summer kicked off, Summer Reading will once again be taking place at the library. Sign up week for the popular event kicked off on May 30. Registration can be done online at marvinlibrary.org/programs/children/, in person at Marvin Memorial Library, or by the phone at 419-347-5576.
The theme for this year’s program is ‘Find Your Voice’. There will be a number of different activities that will be taking place while the program will be held. Some of those include story times, book and craft times, tween group and other special events where prizes could possibly be won.
Story times for ages 2-5 will be held on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., tween group for 4-6th graders will be held on Wednesdays at 1 p.m., and book and craft time will be held on Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
Summer Reading will also feature a number of different guests including the Ohio School of Falconry, Jeff Nicholas, Dinosaur Dimensions, Dr. Insecta, Magic Nate and much more.
On Wednesday, June 7 at 5 p.m., there will be an Elvis concert downtown at the Black Fork Commons Ampitheater and on Thursday, June 8 at 5 p.m. the movie ‘Sing’ will be shown. Dr. Insecta will be paying a visit on Thursday, June 15 at 6 p.m. and Magic Nate will stop by on Thursday, June 22 at 6 p.m. On Wednesday, June 28 there will be an Irish Band Concert and on Thursday, June 29,
Professor Tony will be putting on a show at 6 p.m.
For teens, there will be a Teen Summer Program and sign up takes place throughout the week of May 30. The theme is also ‘Find Your Voice’. This program is open to those from 7-12th grade.
There will be many special events happening with this program and some of them will be Sean Beeson holding a music discussion on Tuesday, June 6 at 5:30 p.m. On Tuesday, June 13 Author David Meyers will be at MML at 5:30 p.m. On Tuesday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. the Ohio School of Falconry will stop by MML and they will have some special bird friends with them.
Adults get to join in the summer fun as well at MML by participating in different events. Some of those will include Elvis at the Black Fork Commons Ampitheater on Wednesday, June 7 at 5 p.m.
For those adults who are interested in railroads there will be a special event on Wednesday, June 14 at 6 p.m. called History of the Interurban Line. Brett Dunbar will serve as the presenter and will discuss information about railroads in Shelby and other surrounding areas.
Andrea Alt and her K9 Creed will be at MML on Saturday, June 17 at 11 a.m. where she will talk about training a police dog.
DJ Ed Gutshall will be playing some hits for Music Trivia Night on Wednesday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m.
Library Walk and Talks are also making a return. Individuals are encouraged to take part in these each Monday at 6 p.m.
