‘Showing Pride City Wide’ is getting ready to take place throughout the community of Shelby from June 8-10.

For those who are looking to clean up around their properties, the Shelby City Health Department is once again providing a spot for community members to take their unwanted items in order to live healthier lives.

The empty parking lot south of Central School (25 High School Ave.) will be the location for residents to dump their items. This will be taking place June 8-9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will continue on June 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During the clean up, the city will accept appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, window air conditioners, washers/ dryers, furniture including couches and mattresses. In addition, the city will accept four passenger vehicle tires that are not on rims. The city will not accept commercial and/or business, tractor,

race, or semi tires.

There are some other items the city will not accept and those include electronics, TV’S, computers, hazardous waste such as cleaners, stains, varnishes, batteries, automotive fluids, pesticides, herbicides and certain paints. Although, dried latex paint will be accepted. The city requests

residents to leave the lid off the paint which will allow them to confirm the paint is completely dry.

For those who are elderly or disabled, there is assistance available in order to participate in the clean up. All individuals have to do is call 419342-5226 to receive more information about this.

During drop offs of materials, city officials will be checking addresses to confirm residential status.

The city will also be picking up any tree limbs or branches that are placed curbside of their residence. All limbs and branches must be at the curb by June 8.
