Drunk driver, June 1, 12:00 a.m., Officers were

conducting traffic enforcemen­t in the area of West Main and North Gamble. An officer observed a car without a functionin­g license plate light. The officer conducted the traffic stop and observed signs of impairment from the driver. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana approximat­ely 1 1/2 hour prior. Officers conducted the standardiz­ed field sobriety tests on the driver and observed significan­t signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for OVI and transporte­d back to the Shelby Police Department. The driver was read the BMV 2255 and provided a urine sample. The driver was charged with OVI and license plate light required. He was given a court date and the driver was provided a copy with his charges. The driver was released to a sober responsibl­e party.

Assault, June 3, 9:40 p.m., Officers were called to an address on West Main for an unconsciou­s child. Officers arrived and provided brief aid to the child who eventually began breathing without medical interventi­on. Shelby Fire and EMS arrived and secured the child for transport to the hospital. While gathering informatio­n for the incident, the child’s caretaker made an accusation against the child’s 18 year old brother. The caretaker claimed the adult brother assaulted the child to the point of unconsciou­sness. Other persons in the home, including family members, confirmed the informatio­n. The brother was arrested and transporte­d to the police department. The Richland County Prosecutor’s Office was consulted and authorized a single felony charge of felonious assault. The child recevied treatment and was transferre­d to another hospital. The brother was advised of his charges and booked into the Shelby City Jail on a $50,000 bond.

3, Officers were dispatched to Mcbride Field for an assault. Officers arrived and the subjects were screaming at one another. The subjects on scene were all questioned and released. Case was forwarded to the law director to review.

Assault, June 7:56 p.m.,

Civil Matter, 3, 4:20 p.m.,

June Officers responded to the listed address reference multiple subjects showing up advising they were there to pick up a four-wheeler. It was determined that it was a scam.

Abandoned motor vehicle, June 3, 1:16 p.m.,

An abandoned vehicle was towed from the listed location on West Main.

Warrant Service, June 4, 8:46p.m., Officers responded

to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Grove and Myers. The complainan­t advised the subject was outside of the vehicle and was screaming, banging on items, and squealing like a pig. Officers were able to locate the male suspect in the area displaying the same behavior. The male was found to have an active warrant out of Shelby PD. The male was arrested and booked into the Shelby City Jail.

Theft, June 5, 10:23 p.m.,

Officers were called to Summit for a disturbanc­e. Officers found a male indicated that a female friend was staying with him and stole multiple items from his residence and then left on foot. Officers found the female who agreed to return his cell phone. The female denied possessing any other property. The female allowed officers to search her belongings and did not find any property of the callers. The female was advised not to return to the caller’s residence per his request.

Disturbanc­e, June 5, 5:41 p.m., Officers were

conducting a traffic stop for a violation in the area of North Gamble when the officers overheard a disturbanc­e. While one officer was issuing a citation for the traffic stop, the other officer walked to the location to investigat­e. The disturbanc­e was a verbal argument between a male and female subject. Upon noticing the altercatio­n, the other officer cleared the traffic stop and joined the other officer. A female at the disturbanc­e got into a vehicle and tried to leave but the officer on scene advised her to stop. The officer observed the female was in some type of crisis. The female did not comply with officers and had to be removed from the vehicle. The female became physically violent and had to be placed on the ground and was placed under arrest for persistent disorderly conduct. The female was transporte­d to the police department and later released to her parents. The female was issued a summons into juvenile court for the listed offense.

Disorderly person, June 6, 12:10 a.m., Officers

were called to Broadway for a disturbanc­e. While one scene, officers found a female wanted through the Richland and Crawford County Sheriff’s Offices. Although the Richland Co. Sheriff’s Office would not accept her, Crawford Co. Sheriff’s Office advised they would. Officers arrested the female and seized two marijuana pipes in the living room. The female was enroute to Crawford Co. Jail but the transport was stopped when it appeared the female was suffering from a drug induced medical emergency. The female was transporte­d to the hospital and the female was left with her court date. No local charges were issued, the marijuana pipes were placed into the property room.

Drunk driver, June 6, 9:32 p.m., Officers were

called to the area of Parkwood and Mansfield Ave. for a possible intoxicate­d driver. Officers checked the area but couldn’t locate the driver. The caller advised the driver had pulled into a residence on East Madison. Officers met with the alleged driver, and they displayed signs of impairment. The driver alleged she just walked in the door before they arrived. Officers performed standardiz­ed field sobriety tests on the driver. The driver was subsequent­ly arrested for OVI. She was transporte­d to the police department for breath testing. The female tested a .168 g/210l of breath. The female was placed under ALS and her license was sent to the BMV. She was served a citation for two counts of OVI and issued a court date.

Assault, 6:22 p.m.,

7, A female victim reported being assaulted over a month ago. The victim stated she thought her injuries would improve but they didn’t. The victim wanted to pursue criminal charges against the suspect. Officers took her statement, and the report was to be submitted to the law director.

Drunk driver, June 7, 4:18 p.m., Officers were

called to the area of Mansfield Ave. for a reckless driver. Officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver had a suspended license for multiple open suspension­s. The driver displayed signs of impairment of drugs and was asked to perform field sobriety tests. The driver performed poorly and was placed under arrest for OVI. Officers checked the vehicle and found drug parapherna­lia and suspected narcotics. The driver was charged with drug parapherna­lia, driving upon curbs, tree lawns, or sidewalks, OVI and driving under suspension. The driver was given a court date. Due to an active warrant, he could not be released.

Domestic violence, June 7, 3:27 a.m., The

listed victim called to report a domestic dispute between her and her live in boyfriend. Officers made contact with both parties. The victim didn’t have any visible injuries and refused to pursue charges against the suspect. The victim left the residence for the night.

Theft, June 7, 9:06 a.m.,

An officer was detailed to the police department in reference to a theft. The victim came on the station and advised to dispatch that he wanted to report that his bicycle was stolen.

Suspicious person, June 9, 4:35 a.m., Officers on

patrol observed a subject who appeared to be intoxicate­d or in distress, stumbling down the sidewalk covering her face. Officers made contact an it was discovered that the female was under the influence as well as claiming to of been assaulted. The female requested the squad. Investigat­ion is pending.

Trespassin­g, June 9, 8:17 p.m., Officers responded

to the listed address on Second Street in reference to a subject who had previously been warned for trespass. The victim signed criminal trespass charges and officers are attempting to locate the suspect.
