The Shelby City School District is opening its kindergarten registration for the 20242025 school year, inviting parents and guardians of eligible children to enroll their kids from Feb. 26-March 1.

This early education opportunity is for children who will be 5 years of age on or before Aug. 1, 2024, in compliance with Ohio law requiring kindergarten attendance as a prerequisite for first-grade admission.

All details were provided by Assistant Shelby Superintendent Paul Walker, who wrote a letter posted on the district’s website.

The registration process begins online via the district’s Finalforms platform, accessible through the Shelby City Schools website at www. shelbyk12.org. For families without internet access, the Board of Education Office offers assistance to complete the enrollment forms in person during regular business hours.

Following online enrollment, parents are required to schedule an appointment with the Board of Education office to submit essential documents for the completion of the enrollment process.

Despite the option to upload documents on Finalforms, original copies of the student’s birth certificate, immunization records, parent or guardian’s ID, and proof of residency must be presented in person. Additional documents such as custody papers may also be required.

Proof of residency can be established with a current utility bill, purchase agreement, or lease agreement.

The district has made provisions for those who may not have a utility bill in their name to contact the Board of Education office for alternative arrangements.

Once all documentation is received, parents will be appointed a time for kindergarten screening, which is scheduled to occur in August.

In his letter, Walker expressed enthusiasm about welcoming families to the district.

Parents with questions or in need of further assistance can contact the Board of Education Office at 419-342-3647.
