Ohio Senior Olympics taking shape
COLUMBUS – The Ohio Senior Olympics has revealed the tentative schedule for its 2024 State Games, adding new dates for various summer qualifying events.

The organization, sanctioned by the National Senior Games Association, oversees the Senior Games movement within Ohio and has shared these updates on their social media platforms, urging seniors to save the dates for a series of competitive events.
According to the Ohio Senior Olympics website, the organization not only sanctions Senior Games competitions across the state but also hosts the annual Ohio Senior Olympic State Games in central Ohio. These games provide an opportunity for men and women aged 50 and over to participate in multiple sports.
The schedule commences with swimming on June 9 and continues with table tennis on June 3-4. Track and field events, including racewalking, are set for June 14-15.
Cornhole competitions will take place on June 22, followed by badminton on June 29. Cyclists can prepare for their event on August 11.
The schedule also includes pickleball, a favorite among seniors, from Aug. 12-16, and softball is slated for Aug. 10-11. The archery event will round out the season on Aug. 24.
Regional competitions occur throughout the state, leading up to the annual state games. In even-numbered years, such as 2024, the Ohio Senior Olympics State Games serve as a qualifier for the National Senior Games, which take place in odd-numbered years.
