Shelby Police Reports
Crash non-injury, February 25, 10:21 p.m., Broadway, Officers were
called to a business at Broadway after receiving reports of a vehicle crashing into the building. They found a vehicle lodged into the windshield wiper fluid display rack upon arrival. The driver, displaying signs of intoxication, refused to do any tests. Consequently, he was arrested and taken to Shelby City Jail, where he was informed of his charges and court date.
Man w/gun, February 25, 11:58 p.m., Walnut,
Dispatch received a report of a fight with possible shots fired in the area of Walnut. While enroute, officers were advised that there was possibly one gun shot victim and the suspect had fled from the area. Upon arrival officers located one male subject near the roadway that appeared to be injured . The subject explained that he had been assaulted and the suspect had fired a gun at him prior to fleeing the area. The victim was transported by Shelby Fire to the hospital. The victim was treated for his injuries and later released. Officers located the suspect at his residence. The suspect surrendered without incident and was taken in to custody. The suspect was incarcerated at the Richland County Jail and is awaiting his appearance in SMC.
Fight, February 26, 8:53 a.m., Whippet Way,
Officers were dispatched to the police department for an assault complaint.
The victim and her parents stated that she was assaulted by another juvenile student at school. Police met with the victim and her parents on station. The victim provided a witness statement then her mother provided medical documentation from a physician where she sought treatment for the assault.
Crash hit/skip, February 26, 10:45 a.m., West Park,
The victim arrived at the police department to report damage to their vehicle from a Hit Skip Incident from the night before. The victim explained the vehicle was parked in front of the listed address when the damaged occurred. It appeared the suspect vehicle side swiped the vehicle and damaged the driver’s side rearview mirror.
