Shelby FFA is proud to announce that we have 8 members that have put in major amounts of time and effort into applying for their state degrees. All 8 of them have received the news that their degree will be presented to them at the 96th annual Ohio State FFA Convention this May.

For those who don’t know, to receive one’s state degree takes lots of effort. There is a lengthy application process that has to be approved sometimes more than once. To get through the application process, one has to have 25 hrs of community service, participate in 2 judging contests, 2 leadership activities, show $2500 of income in project books, 93% attendance at school, and 8 other FFA activities (including fruit sales, after meeting activities, and any other extra activities).

These 8 members are Kendra Walp, Jack Stover, Gracie Rodman, Grace Rietschlin, AJ Roll, Courtney Stiving, Cailey Fairchild, and Addison Shira. With these 8 members are 2 graduated members, that we call honorary members. These two ladies have the opportunity to receive their American FFA Degree. Jena Lafon and Alyssa Neill have been selected and approved to receive theirs. To receive your American Degree, you have to have received your state degree, and been a member for the past 3 years. As well as graduated high school.

You have to have 50 hours of community service, earn at least 10,000 and invest at least $7,500. We are proud to recognize these members at chapter, state and national levels as they receive such amazing degrees. Congratulations to these members and best of luck in the future.
