Woman dead in 3-vehicle wreck in northern Ohio

CURTICE – The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigat­ing a three-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Tuesday at approximat­ely 6:40 a.m. on State Route 579 near Genoa Clay Center Road in Allen Township, Ottawa County.

The patrol identified the deceased as Heather Musser, 46, of Oregon,

Ohio near Toledo.

The preliminar­y investigat­ion showed a Chevrolet Sonic, driven by Musser was eastbound on state Route 579 when she went left of center and struck a westbound Chevrolet Express, driven by David Sziber, 34, Cleveland, the patrol said via news release.

The impact caused Musser’s vehicle to become disabled in the roadway where it was struck by an additional eastbound vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Brad Gnatkowski, 53, Saginaw, Mich, the patrol said.

Musser died at the scene near Curtice about 75 miles north and west of the Shelby area.

Sziber was freed from the vehicle and taken by air ambulance to Mercy Health-st. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo and his passenger, Aaron Thomas, 36, Cleveland, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by

EMS personnel, the patrol said.

Gnatkowski and one of his passengers, Craig Rancour, 64, Saginaw, Mich., sustained minor injuries. Both were transporte­d by ground ambulance to Mercy Health-st. Vincent Medical Center, the patrol reported.

His other two passengers, Brock Sprowl, 47, and Gerald Mose, 57, both of Frankenmut­h, Mich., were not injured.

“The incident remains under investigat­ion and no charges have been filed at this time,” the patrol said in its release. “All drivers and occupants were wearing safety belts when the crash occurred.”
