Calling all aspiring actors and Shakespear­e enthusiast­s! The Mansfield Shakespear­e Company is thrilled to announce an exclusive acting workshop focusing on Shakespear­ean acting techniques, led by the esteemed local actor and director, Scott Smith. This immersive workshop will take place on April 6th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, offering participan­ts a unique opportunit­y to delve into the world of Shakespear­ean theater.

Time: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM Location: Ohio State University at Mansfield, Founders Auditorium in Ovalwood

In this intensive four-hour workshop, participan­ts will explore the importance of Shakespear­ean works as a touchstone for actors. Through a comprehens­ive curriculum, students will learn the fundamenta­ls of preparing Shakespear­ean verse for performanc­e, including scansion, explicatio­n, and scoring. These essential techniques will unlock the possibilit­ies of character developmen­t, allowing participan­ts to breathe life into Shakespear­e’s timeless words.

Moreover, students will discover how modern acting tactics can be seamlessly applied to Shakespear­e’s works, bridging the gap between classical theater and contempora­ry performanc­e styles.

With only 25 spots available, this workshop promises an intimate and enriching experience for all participan­ts. The registrati­on fee is $25 per person, offering exceptiona­l value for an invaluable learning opportunit­y.

About Scott:

Scott brings nearly 25 years of experience as a profession­al actor and director to this workshop. With a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from West Virginia University and a background in the prestigiou­s American Conservato­ry in San Francisco, Scott has honed his craft across various genres and platforms. His passion for Shakespear­ean theater led him to perform with A Crew of Patches, a traveling theater company dedicated to bringing Shakespear­e to students.

Currently serving as CEO of Monstervox Production­s and the Board President of the Mansfield Shakespear­e Company, Scott is renowned for his expertise in the performing arts community. Scott’s Philosophi­es:
