In collaboration with Carnegie Hall, the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra (MSO) and Renaissance Performing Arts Association are proud participants in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute’s Link Up program for the 2023-2024 season. The Link Up concert, titled “The Orchestra Sings,” is scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Renaissance Theatre where area schools are invited to attend free of charge.

The Link Up program, aimed at students in grades 3–5, offers an engaging music curriculum where, if teachers desire, students may learn to sing and play an instrument before performing with the professional orchestra from their seats. This interactive experience, often students’ first concert, allows them to apply musical concepts they have studied.

The Link Up Program partnership with Carnegie Hall has come as a natural evolution from the Operation Bridge Building

(OBB) Education Concerts offered at the Renaissance for the past 14 years. In the Link Up Program, the orchestra will present its annual free education concerts on May 2, 2024 and is designed to enhance elementary-level classroom courses and support music education in schools, integrating arts with academics.

The Renaissance, in collaboration with the MSO, has been accepted as a

Carnegie Hall Partner Organization, joining over 100 organizations across the US and internationally. This partnership provides access to Link Up resources, including teacher and student materials.

Link Up has a rich history of pairing orchestras with students to explore orchestral repertoire and fundamental musical skills. Since 2003, Carnegie Hall has partnered with organizations globally, serving over 300,000 students and teachers in the 2023-2024 season.

Two presentations will be offered on May 2 at 9:45 am and 11:45 am. Maestro Octavio Más-arocas, Music Director of the MSO, will lead the concerts, featuring dynamic narration by Renaissance Education Manager and Teaching Artist Dauphne Maloney.

School groups can reserve concert seats by contacting the Renaissance Education Department at 419-5222726, ext. 212, or via email at dauphne@mansfieldtickets.com.

The Mansfield Symphony Education programs are made possible through the generosity of donors, including Richland County Foundation, the Gimbel Foundation, Ohio Arts Council, Mechanics Bank, and Ohiohealth.
