- From Staff Reports

John Brown University will receive a $75,000 gift from La-Z-Boy toward the university’s renovation of the Walton Lifetime Health Complex. This gift is part of the $5 million renovation goal. “JBU is immensely grateful to the La-Z-Boy Foundation and the employees of La-Z-Boy for their generosity in helping to breathe new life into the complex,” April Moreton, senior director of development, said. “La-Z-Boy supports projects with long-lasting impact within the community.

This gift will benefit not only the JBU family and Siloam Springs, but also La-Z-Boy employees who are committed to health and wellness through their Live Life Well initiatives.”

The renovation, which will be completed before the end of 2016, includes a new entrance on the north side for easier community access, expanded fitness areas with new equipment, updated HVAC system, new locker rooms and refurbished pool mechanical systems with new decking.

“With the facility revamp, we hope to add new recreational programs,” Robyn Daugherty, athletic director, said. “The improved facility will provide a welcoming environment for members interested in swimming, fitness programs, summer camps and more.”

The La-Z-Boy gift is a part of the university’s $125 million Campaign for the Next Century. JBU has currently raised more than $95.5 million toward the $125 million goal and plans to complete the campaign on JBU’s centennial in 2019.
