December sales tax receipts up
Siloam Springs sales tax receipts were up $19,087 in December compared to the same month last year.
Sales tax receipts were $603,671 in December 2016, compared to $584,584 in December 2015, according to the January issue of City & Town Magazine.
County sales tax receipts were up $3,314, from $260,375 in December 2015 to $263,689 in December 2016.
The city’s sales tax receipts come from its 2 percent sales tax. The total sales tax rate in Siloam Springs is 9.5 percent.
City sales tax receipts are used for utility infrastructure, repayment of wastewater treatment plant bonds, the city’s general fund, public safety and the street department.
A share of county sales tax receipts pays on two water utility infrastructure bonds.
Other cities that saw an increase in city sales tax receipts were:
• Fayetteville, up $8,916 to $3.36 million
• Rogers, up $110,149 to $2.91 million.
Cities that saw a decrease in city sales tax receipts were:
• Bentonville, down $536,981 to $1.87 million
• Eureka Springs, down $11,589 to $287,987
• Gentry, down $1,078 to $55,011
• Lincoln, down $4,973 to $38,179
• Springdale, down $27,430 to $2.27 million.
