Ninth-grade hoop teams sweep Springdale Lakeside

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade boys basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak Monday night with a 4026 win against Springdale Lakeside at Panther Activity Center.

The Panthers (5-8) led 16-5 after the first quarter and remained ahead 1811 at halftime after only scoring two points in the second quarter.

Siloam Springs rebounded in the third quarter and outscored the Golden Eagles 13-7 to take a 31-18 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Drew Vachon led the Panthers with 12 points, while Jordan Stewart scored seven, Carson Wleklinski five, Thad Wright, Evan Sauer and Ransom Van Asche each with four and Gage Weaver and Mason Cooper each with two.

Ninth-grade girls

The Lady Panthers won their second straight with a 44-31 win over the Lady Golden Eagles in the ninth-grade girls game.

The Lady Panthers (8-6) led 8-4 after the first quarter and pulled ahead 23-17 at halftime. Siloam Springs held on to that six-point lead, 3327, going into the fourth quarter.

Shelby Johnson led the Lady Panthers with 14 points, while Megan Winesburg had 10, Jael Harried nine, Madison Pharr eight and Turtle Shreve three.

Up next

Both teams return to action at home on Thursday against Bentonvill­e West. The girls game starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys game at 6:45 p.m.
