Ninth-graders win third straight

ROGERS — The Siloam Springs ninth-grade boys outscored Rogers 7-6 in overtime on Monday to win their third straight game, 3534, over Rogers High at W.E. King Arena.

The Panthers improved to 7-8 overall with the win.

Rogers led 10-7 after the first quarter, but the Panthers outscored the Mounties 7-2 in the second quarter to take a 14-12 lead at halftime. Siloam Springs remained ahead 20-18 after three quarters, but Rogers tied the game at 28 at the end of regulation.

Thad Wright led the Panthers with 12 points, while Carson Wleklinski and Drew Vachon each had six, Gage Weaver five, Ransom Van Asche four and Evan Sauer two.

Ninth-grade girls

The Lady Panthers saw their winning streak end at three games with a 40-31 loss to the Lady Mounties.

Both teams scored five in the first quarter, but Rogers pulled ahead 19-13 at halftime. The Lady Mounties led 25-20 going into the fourth quarter. Shelby Johnson led the Lady Panthers (9-7) with 13 points, while Turtle Shreve had seven, Jael Harried six, Madison Pharr three and Morgan Winesburg two.

Both ninth-grade teams host Fayettevil­le White on Thursday inside Panther Activity Center. The ninthgrade girls game is at 5:30 p.m., followed by the ninthgrade boys at 6:45.
