Writing Contest
Siloam Springs Public Library and Siloam Springs Writers Guild announce their winter 2018 writing contest. The contest will give writers a chance to polish their skills, compete for publication and wine prizes. It is open to young adults in eighth through 11th grade; and adults 12th grade through centenarian. The essay should be a 250- to 750-word response to “How has the weather affected you?” Entries are due Feb. 28 and should be submitted at the Siloam Springs Public Library, located at 205 East Jefferson. Valentines banquet
Oklahoma and Arkansas Honor Flight will be holding a valentines banquet at 7 p.m. Feb. 10. at the Army National Guard. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The event will include dinner, honor guard, door-prizes, auction and more. All proceeds will go toward the veterans and their one-day trip to Washington, D.C., on the O&A Honor Flight. Tickets are $50. For more information visit oahonorflight.org.
Writers Guild to meet
The Siloam Springs Writers Guild will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, at First Baptist Church, 2000 Dawn Hill Road. Please use the west entrance. L.C. Bud Walker will be speaking to the group on “How I Started Writing.” Refreshments will be served. For more information, email sswgsisp@gmail.com.
