The Siloam Springs Lady Panthers jumped back into the race for second place in the 1-AAA standings with 48-39 victory over the Mountain Home Lady Bombers on the Bombers’ home court.

The Lady Panthers got 19 points from junior center Tracy Trembly and held Mountain Home’s Michelle Bissette to just nine points in the win.

Siloam Springs helped their cause by hitting 14 of 17 shots from the foul line, including seven of nine by junior guard Jami West in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Panthers got into the win column in conference play for the first time in the season. They were 1-3 in the 1-AAA and 9-10 overall. Mountain Home fell to 16-4 and 1-2.

Kacie Larkin had made a lot of shots in her life, but none more important than her game-winning basket two weeks prior, which helped lead the Siloam Springs Lady Panthers past Vilonia, 51-50.

Larkin, a senior point guard and captain for the Lady Panthers, continued her festive night by joining a pretty prestigious group of young ladies in the school’s 1000-point club.

Larkin only converted two field goals against Vilonia, but it was her threepointer with 3.8 seconds remaining that Lady Panthers coach Debbie Sharp remembers most.

Sharp said she never doubted that Larkin’s shot would rip through the net.

“What a way to cap off the night that she’d get recognized for 1,000-plus points,” Sharp said.

Larkin tallied 14 points in the win, moving her career scoring total at the time to 1,140 points.

Since then, that total increased to 1,159 points, following Larkin’s 19-point performance in the Lady Panthers’ 68-52 win over Greenbrier.

In the classroom, Larkin carried a 4.05 grade-point average and ranked first out of a class of 280 seniors.
