Police identify victim of local shooting

Police identified the victim of a shooting that took place in Siloam Springs on Tuesday night as Chance Cooper, 18, who sustained gunshot wounds to the hand and abdomen, according to a press release provided by the police department on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the area of 1050 North Britt Street off of Cheri Whitlock Drive, near the Remington Park apartment complex.

Officers have conducted and continue to conduct interviews with witnesses who were nearby and neighbors in the area, and were able to recover numerous items for evidence, according to the press release. Although the investigation remains ongoing, persons of interest in the case have been identified.

The police department said they are confident that the case will be closed, largely in part because of the amount of information and assistance they have received from the public.

The first notice the incident took place came when the Siloam Springs Police Department created a Facebook post early Wednesday morning, notifying residents that police are investigating a shooting that took place on Tuesday night at approximately 10:54 p.m., leaving one victim in stable, but critical condition. The post also stated that the suspect’s vehicle is a red Honda.
