Ninth-graders drop 2-1 decision at Springdale George

The Siloam Springs ninth-grade volleyball team dropped a 2-1 (16-25, 25-18, 17-15) decision Thursday night to Springdale George.

Makaylee Reicheneker, Brianna Wood and Sophia Lange each had five kills to lead the Lady Panthers, while Dorothy Swearingen and Cora Dewey each had four and Jensen Kelly added two kills. Swearingen led with two aces, while Emma Norberg and Allison Williamson each had one ace. Swearingen and Reicheneker each had one block.

On Tuesday, the Lady Panthers were swept 2-0 (25-19, 25-12) against Bentonville. Swearingen had two kills, two aces and one block, while Wood had four kills, Reicheneker and Lange each with two kills. Dewey had one ace. On Thursday, Sept. 13, the Lady Panthers lost to Fayetteville Purple (2-1) 25-18, 24-26, 15-6. Swearingen led with six kills, four aces and one block, while Dewey and Wood each had four kills and Reicheneker three kills, two aces and one block and Norberg one kill.

The ninth-graders were scheduled to compete in the Fort Smith Invitational on Saturday. Results were not available at presstime. The freshmen are scheduled to play at Huntsville on Monday. In other junior high volleyball action, the seventh-and eighthgraders both dropped matches at Rogers Elmwood on Tuesday. The eighth-graders lost 2-0 (2523, 25-15), while the seventhgrade lost 2-1 (24-26, 26-24, 15-13).

The eighth-graders play at Springdale George on Monday, while the seventh-graders play at Springdale J.O. Kelly.
