Vol­ley­ball picks up sweep at Langston

LANGSTON, Okla. — A bal­anced of­fen­sive at­tack and ef­fi­cient hit­ting led the John Brown Univer­sity vol­ley­ball team to a quick sweep (25-16, 25-13, 25-18) of Langston (Okla.) on Fri­day night in­side the C.F. Gayles Field­house.

The Golden Ea­gles (15-14, 13-6 Sooner Ath­letic) cleared the .300 hit­ting mark for the first time in 10 matches, and the de­fense held Langston (6-25, 3-17) to a mere .047 (23-19-85) ef­fort on the match.

The win guar­an­teed the Golden Ea­gles home-court ad­van­tage on Tues­day.

Ju­nior Me­gan Beck (8), sopho­more Jaden Wil­liams (8), ju­nior Kinzee Mayo (7), sopho­more Tay­lor Glover (7) and se­nior Bayli Rea­gan (7) paced John Brown in ter­mi­na­tions. Need­ing only 37 digs, fresh­man Jenna Low­ery scooped 12 Lion at­tacks.

Ju­nior Elizabeth Wil­liams and fresh­man Car­rie Ciesla ran the ef­fi­cient of­fense to the tune of 18 and 15 as­sists, re­spec­tively, with the vis­i­tors hit­ting .356 (42-11-87) on the evening.

With­out the ser­vices of ju­nior Jes­sica Meyer, JBU over­came and picked up its 10th sweep of the sea­son.

Wil­liams launched three of John Brown’s five ser­vices aces from the line.

The Golden Ea­gles closed out the reg­u­lar sea­son at Cen­tral Chris­tian (Kan.) on Satur­day. Re­sults were not avail­able at presstime, nor were seed­ings for the up­com­ing SAC tour­na­ment this week.
